Prior to May of 2011, knowing how to find your RSS feed on Twitter user was quite simple. On every user’s page, there was once an actual button, which when clicked, would give the needed feeder. However, they changed some things in the summer of 2011 and this option was no longer there.
With these changes, it no longer supported direct streaming of such feeds. For users who were upset, they recommended using a third-party service. For those who were tech savvy and familiar with coding, they could retrieve information and statuses through OAuth, the new authentication method they are using.
However, for the average user, neither of these two options were acceptable. Programming and coding options are just not feasible for many people who do not have the knowledge needed. And using the services of a third-party entity is not something everyone is comfortable with either- so an alternative to obtaining these all- important feeds was needed.
Such feeds are web format used to syndicate information that is changed or updated on a regular basis. This applies to things like the service, blog posts, and news stories. By accessing users’ feeds within a specialized reading platform for them, or an aggregator, many different feeds and pieces of information are brought together into one easy to access spot, making hunting all over the internet for updated items obsolete.
Luckily, there is a way to find any twitter users RSS, including your own. It doesn’t take a lot of know how or any programming at all, it just requires a few minutes and knowing your own or someone else’s username. Some are skeptical with how easy it really is, but it definitely works!
To find your very own stream, the first thing to do is, note that the following URL is needed: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=xxxxx. In place of the x‘s all you have to do is insert your username. As an example, let’s say your service username is johnjohn1, all you would need to do is replace the series of x‘s at the end of the above URL with your exact username, for example: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=johnjohn1.
Understanding how to find the RSS feed for any Twitter user for most other users, depending on their privacy settings, the method is just as simple. The URL needed is: http://twitter.com/favorites/xxxxx.rss. Again, all that is required is to replace the series of x‘s with the username. And that’s it, again very simple and useful, with no coding or programming required!
