How To Run Free Split Tests Using Google Optimizer

Run Free Split Tests Using Google OptimizerDid you know… by learning how to run free split tests using Google Optimizer, you can improve your campaigns. This method is very popular nowadays among people who have started to conduct business over the internet. It involves trying out different versions of the same item on various groups to find out which gives the best results. It allows you to find out which terms give you the response you want, so that you can invest your time and energy in the elements that actually work.

The aim of doing this kind of groundwork is to get more people looking at your virtual store, gain more repeat customers and become a more lucrative enterprise. No one who is in business can afford to have a weak website. This will drastically reduce their chances of getting a sale. In fact, a poorly designed page will be less likely to attract a profitable amount of traffic.

This variety of testing involves comparing the effect that different site templates or layouts have, so that you may determine which is the best or the most popular. Small changes can bring big results to your establishment. Sometimes a page can be unpleasant to look at, uses harsh colors or does not inspire trust.

In several cases, retailers lose sales because of this kind of arrangement. When you learn how to run free split tests using Google Optimizer, you can find out what works for free. For example, sometimes owners find that potential clients get to their site but leave without buying anything. This may be because they cannot find the items they are looking for.

If the merchandise is not organized in a way that makes it easy to locate a product by using keywords or a model number potential clients will get frustrated. If you put effort into developing a web store that pulls clients and helps them find the products they need easily, you will increase your revenue. You can test the position of different tabs, their shape and their color to see which gives you the best click-through.

If you already have an AdSense or Adwords or Gmail account, you will be signed up automatically to Optimizer. When you are applying it for the very first time you will be prompted to create a new experiment. Click on the tab that says A/B testing. This is the simplest option and is best for beginners. You can compare the performance of entirely different versions of your webpage by utilizing this tool.

Google will provide you with scripts that you must put into your original page and each of the alternatives, as well as your conversion pages. These are the pages that are displayed after visitors buy something or sign up for a newsletter. The scripts are important because they allow the company to send visitors to each variant. There are plugins available which make this last step much less complicated.

People who understand how to run free split tests using Google Optimizer can get more customers. You may compare the performance of different layouts or diverse elements. The utility lets you publish new options to existing homepages and product detail pages and examine the response that members of the public have to them, at no cost to your business.

Hurt by Google’s Penguin Update?

Over the last few weeks, thousands of website owners around the world have experienced rankings drops due to Google’s new Penguin update. However, just because your website has taken a hit doesn’t mean that it can’t get back up! Today, we’re going to show you how to easily recover your website’s rankings – no matter how far you fell.

High-quality link-building

This seems like an obvious tip – and it is – but it’s one that has a renewed importance post-Penguin update. Google is coming down harshly on websites with a suspicious number of links from low-quality websites, and if your website is flooded with these types of back links, then this could be the reason why you were penalized.

Reversing this process isn’t easy. You can’t just remove the spammy links that are pointing to your website. Instead, try to overwhelm them with a smaller number of high-quality links. Look on Fiverr and internet marketing forums for genuine link trading offers on websites with high Page Rank. This may cost a little bit of money, but when your rankings are at stake, you can’t afford to leave your website down in the dumps.

301 redirects

If your website has taken a nosedive in the search engine rankings, then one of the easiest ways to fix your problem is to simply setup a 301 redirect on all the pages that were affected. Then, point them towards some of your higher-quality pages. This is particularly useful for sites that have a large number of similar pages. Instead of forcing users to navigate through several pages with similar content, use 301 redirects to send them to a single, high-quality page. Google will reward you for your efforts.

Sometimes, you might want to 301 redirect your entire website. Surprisingly, Google has even recommended that some users set up a new website if they aren’t seeing any changes in the rankings. This shows just how difficult it is to remove some of Google’s penalties. For many website owners, it’s going to be easier to set up a 301 redirect and point it towards a new web property. Starting fresh isn’t fun, but it may be a faster way to crawl out of the hole than to fight against Google’s penalties.

Fresh, high-quality content

Google wants to reward websites that offer good, valuable information to their readers. Instead of regurgitating the same old stuff from other websites, try hiring a writer to regularly produce good, high-quality content for you. This is an easy way to increase the legitimacy of your site in the eyes of Google, and it’s a great way to overcome any penalties you may have been experiencing.

White hat social media promotion

Once you’ve got a few new articles up on your site, it’s time to promote those articles with some social media link-building. Sign up for Reddit and Twitter accounts under your website’s name, and start using any other social bookmarking websites that you like. Then, submit your article and tell all your friends about it. Good, clean link-building like this can go a long ways towards recovering your rankings.

If possible, start interacting with potential customers in your niche on Twitter. Participate in trending topics and tweet frequently about industry news. Hopefully, this will help you build up a dedicated list of followers who will happily read through the next article you post.

Conclusion

Every Google algorithm update can be scary for those who use the internet as their sole source of income. If a few of your websites have been hit by Penguin, then it’s important that you read and understand this list of tips. If you can build enough high-quality links and fill your website up with good content, you shouldn’t have any problem recovering the rankings you’ve lost from Penguin.

How To Post Content To Google Automatically in 2012

Post Content To Google Automatically in 2012Currently, the only method that answers your questions on how to post content to Google automatically is using OnlyWire. Using the OnlyWire WordPress or Submitter plug-in is the only option presently available if you want to post content on Google.

This submission will include the title of your post and provides a link, which is a unique link for your page. After you sign up for this service, you will need to install the OnlyWire Submitter on to the hard drive of your machine. After successfully completing this procedure, you can commence posting your unique content using the submitter.

The cheapest plan is available for approximately $13 per month, which makes this service affordable to almost any user. The Plan subsection under the My Account section allows you to manage the number of submissions every month and allows you to manage your information efficiently.

When searching for relevant results, search spiders from Google provide a great deal of importance to the keywords. Therefore, it is recommended you write original and unique content that is rich in relevant keywords to increase your rankings. However, the quality of the content is given more importance than the quantity, which is something webmasters must be aware about.

Creating inbound links through article submission or commenting on blogs and forums is an excellent method to increase your ranking. Again, you need to focus on the quality of the originating source to ensure relevance is provided by the search engine spiders. Using the above mentioned tips on how to post content to Google automatically can be beneficial in driving more traffic to your web pages (but word of caution with googles new update). There may be multiple updates regarding keyword stuffing, content & auto-submitting (you can view the google penguin update here).

Google’s Penguin Update: Effects and Recovery

Penguin Update Effects and RecoveryGoogle had launched its Penguin Update just a couple of weeks ago. This new algorithm seems to be doing quite well and the results are in to share with you.

Many low quality websites are being penalized within the search engine. So needless to say…Google must be happy with this update as it is improving things in a positive way.

The newest upgrade is actually designed and targeting overly optimized websites and spammers, but as a result of that some good quality websites are suffering. The main thing about this modification is the quality and relevancy of back links of a web page. If your webpage has many back links with your keyword as anchor text, Google might consider it spamming. Though they have not given any criteria up to which you can use keyword as anchor text, but according to some marketing blogs, about 60-70% of all the back links on a web page must have natural text on anchor and only 10% of total back links may have exact keyword as anchor text, rest 20% links may have mix use of varied keywords as anchor text.

Nothing is perfect neither is the update. As a result of this some good quality websites are also being penalized and are not even listed while some low quality websites, empty websites, hacker websites, scraper sites are listed higher.

So, now the question is how could penguin be a success with such results?

Google’s answer to this question is that these issues are not due to upgrade, these were prior to this update and penguin did not cause it.

On the basis of the results of this newest change, there may be few cases as below:

First, there may be cases where people actually are doing spamming and being hit by the bird and now they are claiming that they have been hit unfairly. Whether they agree or not, if they are being hit by the changes, there must be spam at the core of their marketing work. Maybe they are not doing it intentionally, but there are various marketing techniques which force you to do it.

Now, the question is if the modification is working well, then why are some websites which are clearly spamming still getting through?

Google’s answer on this question is that no algorithm is perfect and they are trying.

Above was an introduction of the effects. Now, I will discuss the thing that is the only question in the mind of every internet marketer now, and that is:

“How to survive from Google’s Penguin update?”

How can you recover?

A number of articles have been written about Google’s penguin update by internet experts in last few days. I am just jotting down some points on how you can recover.

Since this change is mainly about spamming, the basic thing you can do is quit spamming. Avoid spamming as much as possible.
According to Google, if your website is being penalized by the bird, you do not need to file reconsideration request, your website will recover naturally, if you clean the spam up. Some other points are as below.

•    First, remove on-page spam you’ve done knowingly.
•    Try to remove bad links such as links from link farms and irrelevant links.
•    Build back links using more natural anchor text such as your website name.
•    Wait for changes to take effect.
•    If you believe you are doing right and you were penalized wrongly, you may file a report.

At last, I can just wish good luck for your marketing campaigns. Avoid spam and everything should be fine.

Google Penguin Update: Is Your Site Safe?

Search engines use complicated algorithms for the ranking of pages in the search results. The latest update to the algorithms is aimed at improving the quality of results given and giving those “black hat websites” a well deserved decrease in rank. This latest update is known as the Google Penguin Update.

The job of this renovation is to curb web spam. This means that all violators of the code of conduct set by Google will have their rankings reduced or their sites totally blacklisted from the index if they fail to comply.

One big problem that web designers will have to overcome is… in the process of creating a website “trying to beat the competition” is over optimization. With the surfacing of this new update over optimization will surely take them out of the game.

There are several other guidelines that the search engine giant released to help you in this process of optimization the right way. Not following these steps will be detected by this penguin update immediately.
Another thing to mention along with initial designing of a site, is trying to avoid keyword stuffing at all costs. Rule of thumb: try not to use your keyword more than 3 times per post or your site may also be viewed as spam.

Another bad habit that should be avoided is the use of hidden keywords and hidden links. Obviously not new but important to mention is the use of viruses and trojans should also be discouraged. Never use unauthorized programs to send an automated query to the search engine in a bid to increase the ranking of your site i.e. prohibited with the new algorithm is gold.

Do not create sub-domains or pages that contain irrelevant information on your website. Moreover, creation of several pages with duplicate content should be avoided as well. Fresh and unique content will always be your best bet with this update.

In an effort to make sure their website is optimized for the search engine, most web designers forget the most basic of web or software design in general. That is, one should always design the site with ease of use in mind. One should not deceive their users by presenting false information to users and search engine…to improve traffic to the website.

Avoiding some of the listed no-nos aimed at improving your rankings the wrong way. Includes spamming and use of sneaky linking and redirects to fool the search engine that your site has many other sites linking to it. Instead create websites that contain high quality content that will attract users hence increasing your rankings in a natural way.

Buying anchor text for links to your website from other websites with related content should be carried out with care. Your links can ultimately be viewed as a spammy method to increase page rank. This will lead to the algorithm disregarding the links when calculating your page rank. You should also reduce your posts on questionable sites as this will lead to blacklisting of your site by the penguin algorithm.

Despite all the benefits of cleaning up the search results, Google Penguin Update has some errors. One of the common to note includes strange rankings such as sites without relevant content being displayed on the first page while the most relevant pages fall down the rankings. However the good outweighs the bad as this update does well with filling in the loopholes that were exploited by malicious websites before.

Google in the Works: Android Glasses!?

Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin Sports the New Google Glasses at Dinner in the Dark, a Benefit for the Foundation Fighting Blindness -- San Francisco, CA

Is Google really developing glasses that can deliver real-time information on a heads up computer interface display? Yes, it sounds like something out of a Star Trek episode, but the New York Times claims to have confirmed the rumor; this is no joke.

Developers from Google’s secretive GoogleX offices have “let the cat out of the bag” on this project, dubbed “Project Glass”, releasing this statement in a recent Google+ post:

“We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment.”

The glasses are expected to have capabilities similar to a generation-old Android. 9TO5Google speculates “something like 1GHz ARM A8, 256MB RAM and 8GB of storage.” With a 3G or 4G data connection, the glasses could allow users to access social media, share photos, video chat, and even use Google Maps for live navigation.

A video released, depicting “a day in the life” wearing the glasses, shows live social media notifications, live navigation, and more as a user walks through downtown New York City. The glasses will have the capability, with voice input and output, to function as a smartphone. They’re also expected to have a front-facing camera capable of capturing and posting live images.

Sadly, more recent reports for 9TO5Google state that the heads up display is not transparent, is only for one eye, and does not have 3D configurations as previously speculated.

Developers for 9TO5Google remain optimistic, however, writing:

“One really cool bit: The navigation system currently used is a head tilting-to scroll and click. We are told it is very quick to learn and once the user is adept at navigation, it becomes second nature and almost indistinguishable to outside users.”

While earlier reports suggested that the glasses would not be ready for a mass roll out anytime soon, the New York Times quotes unnamed Google employees who said “the glasses will go on sale to the public by the end of the year.”

The Glasses are expected to cost about the same price as a current smartphones.

How to Personalize Your Google Plus Account

It’s time for Google to get social. Google Plus is the successful effort of this world-famous search engine. Through Google+, you can share your photos and do video chat with instant messaging. Interestingly, you can share your video chat with ten people at the same time.

Google is working hard to promote and open the services in public domain for everyone, as the service is available to a limited amount of Google Plus members only. What makes a big difference here is the absence of “share with everyone” option. This option is quite famous in other social networking sites around the globe.

Personalize Your Account

You can personalize your account here at Google+, just like you do it on your Facebook account. Then, what is the difference between Google Plus and a Facebook account? Google Plus allows its users to make friends through categories. These special categories can be school friends, relatives, etc. This is the key difference between a Facebook and a Google+ account. Basically these “Circles” are aimed at classifying the key disadvantages of a Facebook or a twitter account.

It’s Quite Convenient

Today, it has become a general trend that people love to use real life circles to express them. Moreover, Google Plus users don’t have to sign in again and again to see current notifications on their accounts. They can check their status on the Google’s main page and keep on tracking. For more ease, a drop down window can help a user to check all the new conversations and comments on his page. You can also get rid of some annoying posts and comments by following a simple tip.

If you comment on a post and the commented post gets popular in short time and you start receiving a lot of messages, then it becomes quite annoying and you definitely want to get rid of it. You can use the “mute” feature to stop such annoying messages. If you think you want to check the impact of your post or comment, then you can “undo mute” the post again. Soon, you will start receiving the comments from other users on the same post. It works very well if you want to stop comments for the time being.

“Hangout” – A Very Special Feature

Google Plus has been planted well with its interesting features. It can give tough competition to Facebook, but at the same time, it can also occupy the space from Skype. “Hangout” feature of Google Plus will let you do conference calls by pulling your favorite groups into it. No matter where you are and what you doing, you can do simultaneous video chat with your friends through hangout.

Do You Want to Hide Your “Circle” Members?

It’s not hard to make such a useful amendment on your Google+ account. Here, you can easily choose to show the certain circle members and those members who are keeping you in their circle.

You can do it by clicking on the left sidebar of your Google Plus page where everyone from your circle is visible. Under the list, you will see that there is a link “change who is visible here.” You can click and easily get the options for further amendment. This will automatically save your privacy from others. It might be possible that you don’t want to show your close affiliations to someone. So, do it here and secure your privacy.

Like safeguarding your privacy, you can also make big changes on your profile by clicking the “right sidebar.” By doing this, you can add your other profiles, web links, and blogs as well.

You Can Edit  Your Intro & Bio

If you are stuck with the old look and bio on your profile, then it’s time to change it and give it a new look. In order to do so, you can click at any particular content, which you want to change. After clicking, you can edit it easily. The basic questions which may appear on the page will be introduction, bragging rights, occupation, employment, education, places lived, etc. If you don’t want to show your profile on Google Plus, then don’t check the “checkbox.” It will save all your private information from other members.

How To Customize Your Photo Gallery

Don’t you want to make your photo gallery attractive for others? If yes, then arrange the photos which you have uploaded. Luckily, Google+ shows 5 slots for your images. You can upload same images of the similar size. Once they are uploaded, they will look like a big single image. This is another big difference between Google Plus and a Facebook account, as there is no such option available for users elsewhere except for Google+. For editing, you can click on the button at the right corner of your page. Once you click it, you can easily edit your page. Have you made any amendments to your page?

9 Cool Things to Do with Google Plus Circles

When Google introduced Google Plus, it also brought us a new concept: Circles. A circle on Google Plus is similar to a Facebook list, but with a twist of reality: it realizes that each person can be part of more than one of our circles, and that they can overlap. Your circle of friends might include some of your co-workers, and an acquaintance can be a client or online friend.

There is a lot that you can do with Google Plus Circles, some of it basic and some extra creative.

    • Share content with just those people you want to see it. Follow updates by only those people who you are interested in reading about. Pictures of Little Johnny’s missing front teeth can go just to friends and family, but news of your new business start up can go out to everybody.
    • You can plan your circles, or add a new one whenever needed. It is easy to rearrange your circles by dragging and dropping people where you need them to be. It is easy to create a circle by dropping someone in the blank circle, and then simply adding a name. Only you can see the names of the circles you have put people in—so name away.
    • Each person can go in as many of your circles as you want. They remain in each circle unless you specifically remove them, and they only will get one notification.
    • Empty circles are great to use for things you want to save. For instance, somebody puts up a post that you are interested in reading, but do not have the time to do it. Name a circle “Reading List” or something similar, and put all of the interesting pieces you come across in to it, and you can check them out when you have time.

  • Similarly, an “Ideas” circle built just for thoughts you want to write about is handy, and you can put as much or as little detail there as you like.  You can later edit the post and share it if you like.
  • Sharing a circle means sharing a list of those people in that particular circle. You might consider doing this if you are working on a reunion or other type of event and need to collaborate with someone for instance. You just click on the circle icon on top of your page, pick the circle and click share. You can add a comment and decide which other circles should have this information.
  • You can create a Favorite’s Circle and add just those particular people whose posts you do not want to miss. In this way, those people’s posts will go into this special Favorite’s Circle and you can check them out at your leisure, or on your Smartphone while waiting at the doctor’s office.
  • Circles is great because you can be selective in what you send to each group of people, so that you are not sending them posts about stuff that is totally irrelevant to them.
  • You do not have to fill up the streams of your friends with things that have no relevance for them. Likewise, with your close friends, you can be more personal and more blunt than you would be with a circle that contains co-workers or clients.

If you have not yet experienced circles, get over to Google and try it. You may just see why Mark Zuckerberg is a user of the service.

Denise Gabbard writes blog posts about all sorts of things that interest her. Those include Google Plus, personal finance, travel, Facebook, and even things as quirky as van insurance, politics, and the national debt.

Patent Wars: Google Vs. Apple

This Guest Post Patent Wars: Google Vs. Apple was submitted by: Thomas Stone. If you would like to Submit a Guest Post please see Submit Guest Post.

Silicon Valley is a war zone.

Over the past month, the drama in Palo Alto is unfolding like a military epic. Technology goliaths are firing lawsuits like canons at each other and the heavy artillery comes in the form of patents.

A patent used to be a way for inventors to license their ideas, and protect those ideas from infringement. If an idea was good enough, a company might buy that patent from the inventor, and develop a product based on it. In the end, the inventor sells an idea and the company gets a product to sell. Unfortunately, this is all a dream world compared to the rugged landscape of patent litigation we have today. Companies are now amassing huge troves of patents without any intention of using them for innovation, but to threaten and strong-arm other companies into paying.

Google made a move that shocked the tech world last week when it spent $12.5 billion (a significant portion of the company’s total profit last year) to acquire Motorola Mobility, or more specifically, Motorola’s patent portfolio. Motorola’s hardware manufacturing may or may not be worth the price depending on whom you ask, but the 17,000 patents owned by the company now become the property of Google.

Things have been tense since Apple surpassed Google as the most valuable brand in the world earlier this year. Google and Apple are not only competing in the mobile arena–there’s all out war being waged between them in the cloud computing arena as well, as both companies gear up to dominate cloud software, online file storage, and cloud hardware.

These days, patents are more important as protection against (and tools for) lawsuits than ownership of original ideas. Tech companies, especially those invested in mobile hardware and software markets, are looking for ways to stay above water as the list of smart phone losers gets longer. One strategy is to sue companies for patent infringement, demanding that an up-front fee is paid in addition to licensing fees for profiting from a product based on another company’s idea.

Google recently became the target of one such lawsuit. A campaign led against Android by a number of companies including Microsoft and Apple, sought to garner licensing fees from Google by purchasing a number of patents from Nortel and Novell. As a defensive measure, Google claims to have purchased Motorola partly to gain control over its thousands of patents, which would help protect the company and its subsidiaries (read: Android) from these suits. It also fills Google’s arsenal with a bevy of ideas with which they can turn around and sue any other company.

These companies are fighting patents with patents in an arms race against each other. Google maintains that they are simply defending themselves against the ravenous legal assaults of Apple and Google, assaults the company thinks are strangling innovation and purchasing patents for ideas in order to leverage them against other companies in the courtroom rather than utilize those ideas to create a new, compelling product.

Make More From Adsense On Your Blog

Blogging is a great way of making money on the Internet and there are several different ways of making money through your blog. One of these is by incorporating Google adsense into your strategy, and many people around the world have made significant income by simply using this particular technique. If you want to get involved then here are some simple tips on how you can make more from adsense on your blog.

Traffic generation is absolutely critical to your success. Focus on becoming an active presence on the Internet by getting involved in directories, groups, forums, and social networks. Make sure that these are related to your niche market and always add links back to your website. Do this regularly and your following will increase.

Take a close look at your article marketing strategy, and if you haven’t got one then make sure you incorporate one immediately. Article marketing is one of the most simple and yet effective ways of driving targeted traffic to your website.

Simply write articles and submit them to directories. Make sure that a link is included in the resource box. Ensure that every single article you write offers the reader useful information and they are likely to visit your site.

Spend time optimizing your blog properly. This is important and therefore it is crucial that you understand keywords. Try to target slightly less competitive keywords so that you can give yourself the best chance of ranking fairly highly on Google. It is obvious to say, but the higher your ranking becomes, the more income you make through adsense.

It is important to make sure that the adverts you are using are properly formatted for your website. Particular formats have proven to be more successful than others. Try to use the 300 x 250 rectangle, and the 336 x 280 rectangle for optimal results.

The specific design of the advert will obviously need to be congruent with your website as well. You can change the design of the advert by taking advantage of the Google adsense custom co-lour palette.

Any updates that you make to your blog also needs to be relevant to your niche market and should be interesting to your readers. Make sure that you update your blog regularly and you will start to generate a loyal following. The more loyal your following, the larger it becomes then… more money for you to make through adsense.
