If you want to be a successful online entrepreneur, knowing how to find your website’s target markets is essential. It is not always easy. Some people build sites that only they love. Others try to build an online business site they think all customers will adore. They fail miserably.
A perfect business site should be tailored from the best customer you ever had. That perfect site might turn off the majority of customers. But this is ok. The only customer that matters is the ideal one.
Here is how you create that perfect site.
Envisioning that ideal customer is the first stage. You must make a list of all of his characteristics. On a word processing document or piece of paper, draw a human figure. Alongside of him/her, outline an all-inclusive, descriptive list of the ideal customer.
You need to create as exact a picture of this perfect customer as close as you can. List their age, the people she lives with, the school she attends and every little detail you are even able to think of about the car they drive. Describe the socioeconomic status and the stores where she shops for food, clothing, jewelry and hand held electronics. If you discover these details you will attain the ideal customer, you will be able to build a perfect tailored site.
Taking that ideal site to the next level involves researching the counterparts of the ideal customer. Think about the social networking sites she frequents and seek out her peers on them. Make a list of the shared details of her peers. Take those details and use them to flesh out the perfect customer. Also make a list of the problems that bother those people the most. Use all of this information to build the ideal online home for the business.
Once you have fully fleshed out the perfect customer to build the site for, you can start to create it. All of the pages must match the details you gathered in the previous steps. Create the site, selling points and pitches that will appeal to your ideal customer and solve her pressing problems. If you give her what she adores, she will do business with you.
The way to take a business site to an advanced level is to exclude the people who are not your customers. You probably got some ideas about them while you discovered how to find your website’s target market. You need to purposely avoid including the characteristics that would appeal to those people. You will lose them as customers. This does not matter. The customized site will speak ONLY to your targeted customers.
