Social networking is one of the best ways to get your business noticed by niche markets and target markets. Unfortunately, most social networking sites offer the same interface for all its users. Instead of inviting potential buyers, a bland interface can actually drive away customers. Luckily, there is a way to make your page more appealing to customers. Check the following steps on how to develop custom tabs for custom ads on Facebook.
Facebook Markup Language is a coding style that is utilized to embed data and objects such as user groups and profiles. Also known as FBML, this coding style makes it possible to personalize your landing page. You can even post advertisement for upcoming events, or announce promotions to watch out for. There are a number ways to do this, and one of them is by using the Static FBML application.
Look for Static FBML and choose Add to My Page to add it to your list of apps. Choose Edit Page to pull up a list of available apps and settings. On this window, look for Static FBML and click on the link for Application Settings.
This should bring you to the Edit Static FBML Settings window. You should see two options here: Box and Tab. It is recommended to choose the second options. Before you close the window, remember to remove the Box setting and choose Add under Tab.
You can now start adding your own content. Return to your fan page and look for the Edit Page link. On this page there should be 2 empty boxes. The first line is where you put the name of your custom tab. Choose carefully as this will show up on the header. This is called the Box Title.
The box on the lower part is called the FBML box. This serves as a blank canvas where you can put codes and embed images, links and other objects. You may also add a few codes in FBML. Coding in this language makes it easier to preserve the look of Facebook, while reducing the number of codes that you have to type in HTML format. When you are done, you may click on the plus sign to add your custom tab.
You can make the tab appear first when visitors go to your page. To do this, go to Wall Settings under Page Settings. There should be a portion there that allows you to select a landing page from a drop-down list. Scroll down to the new tab you created and select it as the default.
