For most people, authority is actually a very ambiguous word that is filled with a slight level of trepidation and fear. Basically, most people grew up with authority figures and levels of authority are obtained at some point throughout life with parenting and careers. As this is often an evolutionary cycle, there truly are countless facets involved in how to build authority over time.
There are countless aspects faced in life where authority is needed. Most people experience this need when they are parents, own animals, and even become management or senior level executives throughout the course of their careers. Thus, at some point, there is usually the need to build upon the level of authority one has.
Truly, one of the first things to do in order to build this trait is to control fear and disappointment. Remaining in control of emotions and various aspects of difficult feelings is an incredible esteem booster. When in control and with a high level of self esteem, authority is often immediately boosted.
Indecision is often something that leads to a lack of authority. When in a position of authority over anything or anyone, not being able to make decisions and showing this weakness are incredible detractors to overall levels of control. Thus, learn how to make quick and accurate decisions in daily life.
Also, speaking in a solid and authoritative tone of voice is essential for building a sense of authority. Too often, those that are meek and feeble lose their feelings of authority and people are less prone to follow them. Thus, keep this in mind and build upon how you present yourself at all times.
Finally, how to build authority is often dependent upon taking responsibility for your own actions. This is probably the biggest elements of self control and respect which are often precursors for control. This, bear this in mind when dealing with authority issues.
